Established Coffee. Open since 2013 and still setting the city's standard — precise espresso and filter brews from serious single origins, in the room where Belfast's specialty scene grew up.
Neighbourhood Café. Espressos and flat whites built on beans from Calder Coffee — the Cathedral Quarter's warmer, chattier second act.
Belfast — Linen Quarter
Napoleon Coffee. Independent specialty bar south of City Hall — the run-commuter's stop, sized for efficiency and staffed for conversation.
The wider scene
Belfast's independents now stretch from the Ormeau Road to Stranmillis, and the NI coffee community documents itself obsessively — the city per-capita drinks with anywhere on the mainland, and the bakeries (this is the home of proper wheaten bread and fifteens) mean the cake leg of the post-run protocol is in exceptional hands.
Pair it with the run
Belfast's miles: the Lagan towpath from the city centre to Lisburn if your legs insist (riverside, leafy, entirely honest), Ormeau Park and its founding-member parkrun, the Comber Greenway's traffic-free line east, and — for the ambitious — Cave Hill's summit loop, where Napoleon's Nose gives you the city, the lough and your ordinary place in it all at once. County Antrim beyond: the Causeway Coast, arguably the most scenic hard running in these islands.
The rules
Cave Hill wind never counts against pace. Cake past 10K: mandatory — a fifteen satisfies the regulation with tray-bake honours. Recruits drink on the refer-a-friend fiver.
