Machina Coffee
One of Edinburgh's leading roasters. Arthur's Seat at dawn, Machina by nine, moral superiority until at least early afternoon.
Pair it with the run
Edinburgh may be Britain's best running city and its topography wants you to suffer: Arthur's Seat's summit loop (a genuine mountain in a city centre, 250m of honest climbing), the Water of Leith walkway from Stockbridge to the sea at Leith, Holyrood Park's endless variations, the Meadows for flat tempo work, and Cramond's famous seafront parkrun. Every descent ends near a roastery. The city planned this, we're sure of it.
