Strangers Coffee, Norwich. One of the original indie coffee houses of the city, roasting on Dove Street with a café in the Pottergate laneways. The espresso is routinely called one of the best not just in Norwich but in the country — strong words, strongly justified.
The Little Red Roaster, Norwich. Stall 53, Row B, Norwich Market — founded in 2002 by Darren Groom after a formative stint in Australia, and serving ethically sourced speciality coffee from the market ever since. Coffee from a market stall after a cold long run is one of life's underrated pleasures.
Bread Source, Norwich. The city's artisan bakery heavyweight with six outlets, meaning you are statistically never far from a proper pastry. Their bakes have ended more carefully planned nutrition strategies than injury ever has.
Billy's Coffee House, Norwich. A newcomer on St Gregory's Alley that opened in late 2025 and settled straight into the city-centre scene. Small, central, and well placed for a cool-down wander through the lanes.
OP's (Oliver Peter's Coffee Company), Norwich. Founded in 2025 and already making a splash. New enough that you can still claim you knew it before it was famous, which is the coffee equivalent of a low parkrun number.
Pair it with the run
Eaton parkrun and Catton parkrun cover the Saturday ritual at opposite ends of the city. Marriott's Way gives you up to 26 traffic-free miles on an old railway line, which is either a gift or a threat depending on your training plan. The Wensum riverside path threads through the centre for easy miles, and the Norfolk Coast Path is there when you want wind resistance training disguised as scenery. Norfolk is famously flat; your excuses will need to be imported.
The rules
